Join the Club

Carl & White got a brand new Civic! They were eager to have a car of their own since their first day so they could go anywhere at anytime they want. We've been going around dealers in the area to check out some new car deals. they decided to get a Civic for the desired size, fansier features, better quality, realiablility,and higher resale value (over the latest model of Corolla), etc....and of course, Anita and I both own a Honda, it'll be good to have them joined the club, :p

One thing to mention though, they wanted a 4DR Civic under 18k, so LX sedan would be the choice. There are only 1 LX sedan, 1 EX sedan and 2 EX coupes sitting in Don Davis Honda's parking lot by the time we got there (not to mention Lia Honda, their civics were all sold out, there's nothing left even for a test drive. Ray Laks Honda was a bit far, so we didn't consider to go). Don Davis sales person told us that those 2 2006 Civic sedans were "awarded" from Honda for selling so many Civics. the sales person told us that we have to do something quick to make sure that we get the LX since those Civics in the lot were the last 2006 models left, any Civic that is coming to Don Davis will be 2007 model, the price could be slightly higher and the cars will definetly be gone by the early weekend (my own guess was that it's one of the textbook selling tricks to sweep their own parking lot).

They took the idea home and slept on it, but when we got there in the next morning with the final decision, THE CAR WAS GONE (....you gotta love Honda). Somebody changed their mind to leave an Accord for an undesired color of Civic and took the initiative just 2 hours before us, which was right after sales manager opens the door, and it's not even the weekend yet!. so there aren't many options left for this newly wed couple, they either had to wait about 2 weeks for 2007 models or just take the EX.

After a short discussion, the final decision was to take the EX. Although they had to pay 2k more to the total amount paid, but I guess the added features that doesn't exist on the LX will not disappoint them.
